Dan van der Werf

Dan van der Werf, Ph.D

Co-Founder & Principal Consultant

Dan van der Werf is Principal Consultant at Perennial Talent, where he helps organizations strengthen their hiring, development, and retention practices so they can consistently build high-performing teams. His work focuses on outcomes, including lowering turnover, enhancing hiring decisions, and establishing clear development paths that keep employees engaged.

 

He has led projects across industries including manufacturing, sales, IT, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and data analytics. Dan’s experience ranges from developing competency frameworks and selection tools to designing structured interviews and delivering training for leaders and HR teams. His approach gives clients practical tools they can integrate into day-to-day HR processes, turning strategy into measurable business impact.

 

Dan holds a PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from the University of Guelph. Outside of work, he enjoys following the Detroit Lions and Red Wings, and spending time outdoors training for triathlons.

Andrea Butler, Ph.D

Andrea Butler is Principal Consultant at Perennial Talent, where she helps organizations clarify their talent needs and put effective people strategies into action. She has developed more than 100 technical competencies and over a dozen National Occupational Standards, giving clients the clarity they need to align jobs with business goals.

 

Andrea is known for her ability to bring out the best in subject matter experts and facilitate productive interviews and focus groups. She has advised clients across industries including banking, manufacturing, agriculture, sales and marketing, supply chain management, data and analytics, and finance. Her work spans building competency frameworks, auditing talent management programs, and guiding implementation across hiring, career development, and performance management.

 

She has also designed and delivered courses on talent management, equipping leaders and HR teams with practical tools they can apply right away. Andrea’s approach ensures organizations not only define their world of work but also turn that definition into measurable results.

 

Outside of work, she enjoys cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays.
